Since the early 90’s emotional intelligence has been a term many have heard thrown around. In 2022 there are many who still don’t fully understand what emotional intelligence is. One definition states it is simply being smarter with your feelings. Other have added that it is the ability to be self-aware in the moment understanding how you own emotions impact decisions, self-management, drive, peformance, empathy and motivation and also being keenly aware of others at the same time.

Either way, we all have some level of emotional intelligence. It is when the subset of skills that are involved begin to cause us issue that we typically want to learn more and make changes. If we lived in a world where EI was more of an every day term instead of one that is seen just in the workplace imagine how much better our professional and personal lives would be.
